Aims of the Association:

The aim of our Association is to help older people lead a full, happy and healthy retirement by offering organised opportunities for a wide range of activities such as - holidays, outings and social events; creative and learning programmes; indoor and outdoor sports and community work.

Membership is open to men and women, over 55 years of age and living in the Enniscorthy Urban and Rural areas. Members are encouraged to stay fit and involved in the activities of the Association. We aim to maintain the dignity, independence and a sense of purpose of retired people.

Our meetings are normally held on the 1st Tuesday of every month (except August), at the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy, commencing at 2.30pm and they are an ideal opportunity for friends and strangers to meet and have a gossip!

Most months we have a Speaker to give a talk on a variety of topics that would be of interest to our members. In the past, the topics have included various health related issues, safety advice from a member of An Garda Siochána, gardening tips from a local Garden Centre etc.

We also take the opportunity to inform our members of forthcoming events and holidays etc. A Raffle is held and drawn at the end of the meeting.

Our Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) is held at the February meeting. Reports are read by the Chairperson and the Secretary regarding the events of the preceeding year and a report given by the Treasurer regarding the Finances of the Association. This is also the occasion at which the membership have the opportunity to elect the Committee to represent them for the forthcoming year.

Membership:

As stated above, membership is open to retired men and women aged 55 years and over who live in the Enniscorthy Urban and Rural areas.

There is an Annual Membership Fee, currently €10, which is payable every February and covers Association administration costs and Publice Liability Insurance etc. The Registration of new members and the renewals of existing members of the Association, takes place during the months of February, March and April each year.

A requirement of continued membership of the Association is that under normal circumstances, members must attend a minimum of 4 monthly mettings per annum.
